As you may already know, I attend Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. I am a first year, mass communication major. With Beyoncè just dropping her jaw dropping documentary “Homecoming” based on her Coachella performance in 2018. It has made discussions of HBCU’s has been very popular recently, especially on social media.
Beyoncè came to shake the table and we are all here for it. I mean seriously, in film HBCU’s do not always get the representation we deserve if it’s not Howard, FAMU, NCAT or the AUC (shoutout to all of these colleges, I love my fellow HBCU’s) but this is so true.
Beychella was so much deeper than a performance, she gave Black college students the opportunity of a lifetime to show HBCU culture in a positive light to a crowd of over 100,000 people.
Beyoncè even speaks about how she and her performers worked tirelessly for 8 months in preparation for Coachella. For her to balance being a mom of three and a wife during this was absolutely inspiring to watch. I mean this is Beyoncè for crying out loud, stan Twitter doesn’t call her a queen for nothing.
Everything about Beychella was....perfect. Honestly, I could write a 10 page review about how Homecoming changed my life. I literally felt my soul leave my body because that’s how great it was.
Go watch Homecoming on Netflix now!!!
