ABOUT
Hey! My name is Aniana Johnson and welcome to my website I am a 18-year-old, college student at Xavier University of Louisiana studying mass communication. I hope to graduate Xavier in 2022 and go on to film school to become a movie director and producer.
This will be a space for me to express myself on topics such as veganism, life at an HBCU, the LGBTQIA+ community, and mental health. Also showcase some of my work I am doing within my major including events and internships.

Every since I was a small child, I always felt like I had a voice. I am very opinionated, outspoken, and believe in standing up for what is morally right. Rather it be verbally, face-to-face with people or written, I enjoy spreading my knowledge through social media.

When I became vegan in April of 2018, it motivated me to create a YouTube channel and speak about how it is being a young, black, vegan. I am seen as pretty rare when it comes towhat society thinks vegans are, and that is the main reason why I want to educate as many people as possible on how beneficial and easy it is to be vegan. I want to spread veganism to my people of all ages, all over the world. The African American community is my biggest target because we are the group with one of the highest rates of health problems, that are preventable with a plant-based diet. You will hear more about this in future blogs!

In the midst of becoming vegan, I was a senior in high school, graduating at 16 years old. Once I got to New Orleans, Louisiana in August 2018, I felt excited to begin my college experience at the #2 HBCU in the Nation. The culture here in New Orleans is so amazing and unique, I really can not wait to share it! From the colorful city, to the delicious food.

Mental health is also one of the things I am passionate about. I feel like mental health in the Black community is so overlooked, misunderstood, and ignored. With me being someone who suffers with severe anxiety, I know how discouraging and frustrating it feels to not be understood within my own community. I want to bring awareness, help, and advice to other people who deal with or know someone who deals with things similar to myself when it comes to mental health.

Finally, on this little virtual world "All About Aniana" I will speak about how it is being a member of the (L)GBTQIA+ community. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I am going to get into topics from the perspective of an African American teenager who is open with her sexuality and shake the table.
